Stop Selling

The primary criteria as a digital marketing agency employed is problem solving. Prospective clients and business owners do not want to be sold. Thw world has become impatient with too many buzz words and catch lines that are geared to sell The online marketing arena is plagued with vehicles and avenues to reach vast numbers of people only to bank on the law of large numbers.

People are wary of marketing teams that poach their desire to find quick ways to make money. In reality, these methods are designed to lure and bait those that are not knowledgeable or impatient for results that sound great. There have been so many spam and scam artists that have taken advantage of such innocent business owners that the industry is filled with skepticism and distrust.

So what is a business owner that really seeks a digital team that is genuine supposed to do to determine the right quality for their business? Firstly, let’s just keep the process simple and review what is most important in the process. Every prospective client has one common issue that they all share. The desire to solve a problem or problems thatbthey encounter in their business. Whether it be earning a higher ROI or quantifying the measure of results through its budgeted spend, companies need to know the income statement of marketing and being able to justify the budget over a specific period of time, and consequently the results that are expected from this spend.

Sounds good so far? Wait a minute. In order to achieve this, it is vital to have a comprehensive session where proper questions are asked and answered for an understanding of what has been done in the past, what has worked, what has not, and then what comparable industry businesses have done with proven results that are demonstrable. Over the many years of operations, we have come to know that one size never fits all. The desired goals of businesses are also not the same and one can never assume that even though a business may be identically similar to others we have experienced, it may or may not be lined up with the same business owner goals.

One such memorable client was concerned with their Google ranking in their demographic region. Although gaining more paying clients is always nice, they were also running a paid ads campaign. We took over the management of their paid ads platform and converted many new clients through the ads, however this was not their primary goal. The branding of their positioning on Google was most important in order to represent the quality of their stature in their industry.

After a thorough discussion with the client, we pivoted and targeted a deep implementation of SEO campaigns that suddenly reached a number of major regional areas that increased the SERP rankings and keyword search results. Additional paid ad conversions wee secondary and over time, the organic performance outpaced the paid ad conversion results achieving a much more suitable outcome.

The interview process uncovers these kinds of important details that should not be assumed or skirted over without a full understanding between the client and the fulfillment team. Once identified and agreed upon by the parties, such goals and targets should be detailed in the engagement agreement with realistic time schedules to manage the expectations so that there are no misunderstandings as to what was agreed upon from the beginning and the tasks that are taken on during the campaign period.

Sure, this takes more time for a proper discovery and due diligence but in the long run, it saves time and maintains satisfied clients with a well thought out communication mechanism. If this is interesting to you and there are questions as to how we achieve these steps in detail, contact us. Need SEO is aailable to discuss and help at all times.

Various industries are already facing a decrease in businesses because of the coronavirus.

Your business is not alone in its struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Don’t lose hope yet, SEO will come to your rescue.

Reasons to Invest in SEO During the COVID-19 Pandemic

#1 Search is easy to measure

SEO allows you to stay visible. During a pandemic, the minds of people are preoccupied with survival. If your business provides some of the things necessary for survival like food, medication and like we have found out from this pandemic, toilet paper, you may already be on top of the mind for many people, but SEO will still help you get that edge over other competitors. Even for the businesses that may not be involved in essential products, you can still use SEO to maintain top of the mind awareness which will become an asset once the storm blows over.

#2 People are increasingly searching for products online

Remember, people are online more, so it may be time to focus more on running the business online and what better way to get attention than to put energy into SEO strategies.

#3 People still need your service and products

The competition is likely to take their foot off the pedal. The fact that people are locked up in their homes may make the competition believe that they have no reason to push their SEO strategies. Google, however, does not stop working because of a pandemic. Many people are still searching and Google is ranking. It’s the best time to get a better ranking since the competition to be noticed is reduced. In some niches, you might find you are the only one still active.

#4

Businbess Off

SEO sets your business up for success after the pandemic

Things will get back to normal eventually, but we just don’t know when.
It might take some time to recover from the loss, but search engine marketing will continue to make lives easier.
Implementing efficient SEO marketing programs during this downtime will be helpful for when the market is normal again. You can create an SEO campaign that will yield results for many years to come. Those results could help your business recover from the possible losses from the economic downturn.

There’s little doubt that WordPress is one of the best platforms to build your website on. But even the most seasoned users run into some common WordPress issues that leave them scratching their heads.

If you’re a beginner, facing these problems can be pretty scary. WordPress errors can seem complicated, overly technical, and you might not know where to start in resolving them.

We totally understand your frustration!

Everyone has to start somewhere so we’ve put together some of the most common WordPress issues and simple solutions to resolve them.

Here’s a quick look at some of the more common errors we’ve come across in WordPress:

403 forbidden error in WordPress

So how about we learn how to fix these problems so you know exactly what to do when you face them next.

Backup Your Site Before Fixing WordPress Errors

Before we start looking at the more popular WordPress errors and their solutions there’s one thing you should always do.

Backup your website!

You should always make a complete backup of your WordPress site before making any changes and have a regular backup schedule. This is so if you can’t fully resolve your issues you’ll have a full working copy of your site ready to restore.

There are plenty of backup plugins you can use to create a restore point for WordPress. You can even create a manual WordPress backup if you’d prefer.

With a backup of your site in place let’s look at the most common WordPress issues you could be facing.

1. WordPress White Screen of Death

The WordPress white screen of death error usually results in a plain white screen that has no error message. This is what makes it so confusing because there’s no error code or message to indicate where something may have gone wrong.

This issue is usually down to a PHP memory limit or a configuration problem on the server. What’s more, you’re most likely to only see the white screen on certain sections of your website.

How to Fix the WordPress White Screen of Death

If you have more than one WordPress website hosted on the same server begin by checking if your other sites have the white screen of death error too.

If they do, chances are the issue is to do with your website hosting provider. The issue might be temporary, resolving itself soon but if you’re worried get in touch with your host’s support service for more details.

If this isn’t the cause of the error you can try disabling your WordPress theme and plugins, reactivating them one-by-one until you replicate the error and find the culprit.

But if you can’t access your WordPress admin area, you’ll need to access your site files using an FTP client.

Find the wp-content/themes or wp-content/plugins folders and rename them to something else. This should remove the white screen error.

Then revert the folders back to their original names and rename each plugin and theme file inside those folders one by one until you identify the plugin or theme that’s causing your site to break. You can then remove that problem theme or plugin to solve the error.

For more solutions to fixing the WordPress white screen of death, see this guide.

2. WordPress Memory Exhausted

If you’re seeing an error similar to the one above that says the WordPress Memory is Exhausted it could be down to a script or WordPress plugin that’s exhausting the default memory size limit.

The error usually displays a message like the one below:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2348617 bytes) in /home/username/public_html/site1/wp-includes/plugin.php on line xxx

How to Resolve the WordPress Memory Exhausted Error

You can easily fix this memory issue by increasing the PHP memory limit in WordPress.

To do this, FTP into your website and locate the wp-config.php file which can be found in your site’s root folder.

Then copy and paste the following code into your wp-config.php file before the line that says, ‘That’s all, stop editing!’

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );

What this code does is to tell WordPress to increase the PHP memory limit to 256MB.

Save your changes and upload the file back to your server. The error should now disappear when you visit your site.

3. WordPress Connection Timed Out

If you’re seeing the “ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT” error in WordPress it usually means your website is trying to do more than it can manage all at once and is pretty common if your site is on shared hosting.

Some of the main causes of this problem are resource-hungry plugins, issues with your theme functions, and PHP memory exhaustion.

How to Solve the Connection Timed out Error in WordPress

You can begin troubleshooting this issue by deactivating your plugins one by one and then trying to access your website after each deactivation. You might find that one of your plugins is causing the error.

Another possible solution is one we’ve touched on before, increasing your memory limits in PHP and WordPress using the steps we outlined earlier in the article.

If none of that works, it’s a good idea to contact your hosting provider to see if they help.

4. Error Establishing a Database Connection in WordPress

The error establishing a database connection problem suggests that your site can’t connect to your database.

This can happen when you’ve modified or entered your database details incorrectly such as:

Your database host.

Database username.

Database password.

Alternatively, your database could be unresponsive or corrupted.

How to Fix Error Establishing a Database Connection in WordPress

To fix this common WordPress issue you should first see if you get the same error on both the front and backend (wp-admin) of your website.

If you get a different error on the wp-admin page of your website such as “One or more database tables are unavailable. The database may need to be repaired”, you need to repair your database.

Repairing your database is pretty simple. FTP into your website and add the following line of code into your wp-config.php file just before the ‘That’s all, stop editing!’ line:

define('WP_ALLOW_REPAIR', true);

Now save the changes, re-upload the file to your server, and visit this page:

http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/maint/repair.php

When you’ve finished repairing your database remove the line from your wp-config.php file.

If this solution didn’t fix the establishing connection to a database error, see this guide for more solutions.

5. WordPress Internal Server Error

The WordPress internal server error is often the most common WordPress issue and the most confusing too.

This error message normally shows up when something is wrong, but the server doesn’t know where the problem is. And because the message doesn’t tell you where to look to fix the issue it’s largely down to you to find it.

How to Fix the Internal Server Error in WordPress

When trying to resolve this issue, first check if your .htaccess file is corrupted. You can do this by accessing your site using FTP and locating the .htaccess file which you’ll find in the same directory as folders like wp-content.

Now rename the .hataccess file to something like .htaccess-old and re-visit your website to see if the error has been solved.

If it worked proceed to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to Settings » Permalinks.

Then click the save button without making any changes which will create a new .htaccess file with the right rules so you don’t see an error anymore.

If you continue to see the WordPress internal server error, you can troubleshoot more solutions here.

6. WordPress Parse or Syntax Error

When the WordPress parse or syntax error comes up, it’s normally when you’re adding snippets of code into your WordPress files. The code could have the wrong syntax or you might have missed a character or two when copying it over.

You’ll usually see an error like the one below:

Parse error- syntax error, unexpected $end in /public_html/site1/wp-content/themes/my-theme/functions.php on line 549

How to Fix a WordPress Parse or Syntax Error

To solve this common WordPress issue you should first take a look at this guide for beginners on how to paste snippets from the web to WordPress to ensure you’re not making any mistakes.

Once you know how to properly copy and paste snippets in WordPress you can move onto fixing the problem. To fix a syntax error you’ll need to edit the code that caused it.

This might sound scary, but it’s easy to fix, don’t worry.

If you added a new code snippet via your WordPress dashboard area, chances are you’re locked out from your site. With this in mind, you’ll need to access your site files using FTP.

When you’ve connected to your site files find the file you edited with the code snippet. If you’ve forgotten which file that was look at the error code as it tells you exactly where the error is.

Then remove the code you added or rewrite it with the correct syntax.

When you’re done, save the file and re-upload it to your server. Then refresh your WordPress site. Your site should now be working properly!

7. WordPress 404 Error

One of the reasons why you might see a WordPress 404 error when you visit a post or page on your website is because your permalink settings need to be reconfigured.

Another cause for this error could be if you accidentally remove your .htaccess file or an error occurred with your rewrite rules.

How to Resolve the WordPress 404 Error

To solve a 404 Error you’ll need to fix your WordPress permalink settings.

You can do this by heading to Settings » Permalinks in your dashboard area and simply clicking the save changes button.

This flushes the rewrite rules for your site and updates your permalink settings. Usually, this will solve the 404 error.

If it doesn’t you can fix the WordPress 404 error by updating your .htaccess file as shown in this guide.

8. WordPress Stuck in Maintenance Mode

Sometimes when you’re making changes to your website you’ll see a message similar to the one above saying your site is undergoing scheduled maintenance.

WordPress can get stuck in maintenance mode during a scheduled WordPress update or when you’re updating a bunch of plugins or themes.

If WordPress is interrupted during this process it doesn’t have the chance to take your site out of maintenance resulting in locking down your site and making it unavailable.

How to Solve WordPress Stuck in Maintenance Mode

WordPress automatically puts your site into maintenance mode during updates so your visitors don’t see a broken version of your website. But when it’s stuck in maintenance mode you and your visitors won’t be able to access it anyway.

To solve this problem we’ve put together a detailed guide to fix being stuck in WordPress maintenance mode fast which you can read here.

9. WordPress not Uploading images

When you’re working on your website you might sometimes find that you can’t upload images properly to the media library. Don’t worry, you’re not alone in this! It’s a pretty common WordPress issue that we’ve seen often.

If WordPress isn’t uploading images properly, it’s probably down to incorrect file permissions and if it is you’ll normally see the following error message:

‘Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2019/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?’

Another sign of this is your images disappearing from the WordPress media library.

How to fix Image Upload Issues in WordPress

To fix the issue of WordPress not uploading images, you’ll first need to connect to your site via FTP. Then head to your /wp-content/ folder.

Inside this folder, you’ll see the uploads folder where all of your media is stored including images.

To set the file permissions for your media uploads, right-click the uploads folder and select File permissions to bring up the file permissions dialogue box.

First set the permissions for your uploads directory and all subdirectories inside it to 744.

Then check the box next to where it says ‘Recurse into subdirectories’ and select the ‘Apply to directories only’ option. Click OK to apply the changes.

The next step is to set file permissions for the files in your uploads directory.

Right-click on the uploads directory and select File permissions. In the dialogue box change the numeric value to 644.

Check the box next to ‘Recurse into subdirectories’ and click ‘Apply to files only’. Click OK to apply the changes.

When you’re finished, head back to your WordPress dashboard and try re-uploading your images again.

10. “Are you Sure you Want to Do This” WordPress Issue

The next common WordPress issue is the “are you sure you want to do this?” error message. You’ll probably see this message in the WordPress admin area.

The cause of the problem is often down to a WordPress plugin or theme failing to use Nonce correctly.

Nonce is security keys added to URLs when carrying out an admin task in WordPress. If a plugin or theme is using it incorrectly you’ll see the above error message.

How to Fix the “Are you Sure you Want to Do This” WordPress Issue

The solution for solving this error message is to begin to investigate your WordPress themes and plugins to see which one is the culprit.

For the full details on how to fix the“are you sure you want to do this error” check out this detailed guide.

11. WordPress Login Redirect Loop

There may come a time when trying to log into WordPress the login page will keep redirecting and refreshing. This is often called a WordPress login redirect loop and can be pretty frustrating.

How to Solve the WordPress Login Redirect Loop

One of the easiest ways to fix this redirection error is to clear the cookies in your web browser. This is because WordPress uses browser cookies to authenticate your login details.

To clear your browser cookies in Chrome go to your Chrome Settings and Advanced » Clear Browsing Data.

Clear your browser, cache, and cookies then ensure your browser has cookies enabled.

When you’ve done this, restart your browser and refresh your WordPress login page to try logging in once more.

This should fix the problem for most people, however, if you’re still experiencing login page redirection issues this article has more solutions.

12. 403 Forbidden Error in WordPress

The WordPress 403 forbidden error code is normally displayed when your server doesn’t allow you permission to access a certain page. More often than not you’ll see the following error message:

403 Forbidden – You don’t have permission to access ‘/’ on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

There are quite a few reasons why you might be seeing this error, but incorrect file permissions and poorly coded plugins are usually the main culprits.

How to fix the 403 Forbidden Error in WordPress

One of the most common solutions for this WordPress issue is to troubleshoot your WordPress plugins. You can do this by deactivating all of your plugins including any security plugins you may have installed.

If the error is resolved once you’ve done this a plugin is definitely the problem. Start reactivating the plugins one by one until you see the error again which will highlight the problem plugin.

If it turns out that a plugin issue wasn’t causing the problem you can fix the 403 forbidden error message with one of the other solutions found here.

We have embarked on a go forward strategy that reaches out to provide whatever advice and guidance we can to help companies and people get back on their feet. The business of digital marketing will enable business owners to reach well beyond the scope of boundaries never before imagined. Communication shall always remain the cornerstone of commerce however we have so many alternative methods to communicate that are faster and more efficient.

Google Hangouts and Zoom now offer the virtual forum where we can see and hear those that we want to include in our discussions with the added benefits of screen sharing and document inclusion simultaneously. Group forums enable digital discussions while also verbal/ audio means.

But rather, it does say that our method and approach towards doing what we do will manifest itself into different ways.

For our online marketing business where networking events at the local level was a common practice. Now, we have reached out into the virtual world of marketing to different professions in different geographic locations. In some ways lead generation has expanded into a more impersonal world but actually comes to realize that although strangers are our first touch point, our differentiator is still the personal follow up as if we were still face to face locally.

So what does this mean for others? The concept remains the same whereby each industry must analyze how they can use the technology of what is available to us and incorporate these to reach your prospects and existing clients.

Clearly certain professions are more vulnerable than others however in the service industries, communication can be conducted effectively and in many ways more efficiently.

Most businesses are there giving advice or consultations. A hands on profession i.e. massage therapist or chiropractor might utilize their online communications to offer advice and how certain exercises or self treatments can be administered in the comfort of your home.

Your professional reputation and stature will be admired and well appreciated by your audience of followers.

Thinking out of the box is what times like this require and the sooner we adopt such practices, the sooner we will emerge and recover from the doldrums of such insidious times.

Lawyers are faced with immense challenges of marketing without seeming to market. Sounds like an oxymoron but is it? It’s intent is to prevent abuse of poaching on those that are in dire circumstances and least able to afford the services that are often charged. So given this, what is an attorney to do?

Positioning oneself as an authority on a topic that people seek after for information is a good start. Additionally with the COVID-19 situation upon us, there is little to do in the midst of networking and large group gatherings to meet. 2020 celebrates the best time in the history of the world to capitalize on digital means to exponentially reach this audience of people that are in such need. What does that mean? Well utilizing those vehicles that are not sales tools but rather information points where knowledge is sought and the information provided is considered high quality and trusted.

Linkedin has grown as more than just a resume posting site. It’s reach to professionals that are connecting has been an incredibly valuable resource. Used properly, this can be a goldmine for so many that must market alone and reach as many as possible. Automated functions tied in with Linkedin have made this process easier and time saving.

There are however proper procedures and protocol to follow in order to be successful at this approach just like anythings else.

Life has shifted forever as we know it or knew it. There are certain things in life that occur that are cyclical while few that are permanent and life altering. COVID-19 has demonstrated that “The World Is Flat”, the 2005 book by Thomas Friedman, who articulated the economic integration of life throughout the world and its inter dependency. Now, the integration has extended to a whole other level of meaning, health and survival.

The generation of living people today have few that were here when WWII occurred, however the analogy of the world back then compared to what we are undergoing now where the entire world was affected and changed from the event forever is similar.

As the world population has grown to such massive proportions (7.7 Billion), we are challenged with the on going task of feeding, curing, and employing more and more as we are testing the limits of health and capacity to maintain its semblance of normalcy.

Thoughts come to mind of meditation and existing in solitude while in a world where there are so many. Perhaps there is great inherent value in the scripts of Buddhism where the teachings have honored and respected all aspects of life including trees, bushes, and inanimate objects that all have a soul. Our departure from these fundamental values have culminated to a crescendo that is here on our doorstep now.

Connecting with patients as a marketing concept trumps ‘advertising’ when it comes to truly reaching and helping patients

DCs who is worried about marketing costs for their chiropractic practice along the lines of traditional marketing concept like to talk about one thing: ads.

These lead to questions for them like:

“How many new patients does your ad need to bring in for you to break even on it? And to turn a profit?”

“How are you making your ad measurable, so you can tell what impact it has (and on whom)?”

“Who are your best patients?”

“What do ‘best patients’ have to do with anything? And what’s a ‘best’ patient, anyway?

Going beyond advertising as your main marketing concept

When you want to know how to minimize marketing costs, it’s what marketing is and isn’t that you need to focus on.

Let’s start with what it isn’t. Marketing isn’t advertising (ads are, in fact, just one tool of marketing).

Marketing isn’t about reaching as many people as possible (actually, you can do much better by targeting your focus to your “best patients” – those for whom your services are a perfect match, like, say, families, seniors, or athletes).

And, certainly, marketing isn’t about flashy design (though a professional look will always help.)

Measuring your marketing touches

Marketing is about connection. That’s it. That should be the entirety of your marketing concept, wrapped up in one word. If you can connect with people, you can market. More importantly, you can market successfully. So what does that mean for a chiropractor trying to bring in new clients without breaking the bank?

It means you need to review your marketing plan and look at it with new eyes — you need to see where you’ve created opportunities to connect. Typically, a chiropractic marketing plan might include an announcement of an upcoming presentation on wellness. There may be a holiday card sent out and a special offer during the patient’s birthday month.

If the patient hasn’t been seen in a while, a “We missed you” note might go out, along with information about all the services you offer (like chiropractic, massage therapy, or nutritional consulting). And there’s nothing wrong about any of that. It’s a good beginning.

The problem is, it focuses a lot on sporadic interactions, not real connections. Worse, it doesn’t really do much to let your patients know all the things you can help them with. And that’s the important marketing concept right there – help.

Helping find services to fix problems

Because that’s what marketing — when done correctly — is actually all about. You are helping people find out about services that will help them with their problems. And doesn’t that sound like a perfect foundation for a chiropractic marketing plan? In fact, when you think of it that way, suddenly marketing sounds a lot more like customer service. And it is.

How many interactions do you have a month (a week? a day?) that allow you to let new people know about your services? In other words, how often do you connect with people? Those connections could be spontaneous conversations with customers in line at the grocery store, or they could be one-on-one networking lunches with potential referral partners, or anything in between. The point, though, is that you are out there, regularly and frequently, talking to people about what you do.

Talking about services and referrals

When – and how frequently – do you ask your patients for referrals? It’s amazing how often chiropractors answer “never” to that question. Yet, a “never” — or a “sometimes” — to that question is like taking money and tossing it in the trash. That’s because the easiest type of marketing is through your existing patients. Asking them for referrals puts the idea in their minds, and it also opens up a conversation in which you can get feedback, collect a testimonial, or educate your patient on the other ways you can be of help.

I’ve been seeing my own chiropractor for about five years now, and she has yet to ever ask me for a referral.

Do you get out in front of groups and let them know about your services? Connecting with groups is a wonderful marketing concept that leverages your time and gives you more impact. Giving a talk or writing an article gives you a chance to reach a wider audience and really give information on how you can help them.

It’s not all back pain

How often do you let your existing patients know the variety of problems you can help them with (you know chiropractic is about more than just back pain – but how many of your patients know that)? You should be regularly educating your patients in this way (and not only during conversations requesting referrals). If you’ve helped someone with their back pain but they go to someone else for their headaches, that means you’ve missed an opportunity to let them know how you could help them.

A connection-based approach to marketing is about as inexpensive as you can get.

Once you stop thinking of marketing as something you do, and, instead, think of it as a way in which you connect, you will be well on your way to reducing costs and strengthening your marketing concept — or your philosophy of analyzing customer needs and then making decisions to then satisfy them. Most importantly, though, you will create a marketing plan based on the same ideals upon which you founded your practice: helping others.

Jennifer Michelle teaches health and wellness professionals how to build thriving businesses without burning themselves out. Her consulting uses a connection-based approach, which is also at the heart of her workbooks, Get More Clients and Increase Client Retention.

The most recent pandemic crisis has brought much to the fore as we hopefully come out of this health crisis soon. Certain things occur in our lifetime that are not cyclical but transforming. Such events are 9/11 and this is shaping up to be the same. It makes one think about how businesses need to reformat their ways of marketing to their intended audiences. The use of digital media that we have at our disposal allows businesses to achieve an exponential reach in nano seconds while also reducing the physical interaction between businesses and its clients.

It provides an opportunity to shift the mechanism that people use to shop and find trusted supplier/ merchants. As we emerge from this 2020 crisis what will be remaining will always be the thought that this can and will always happen again.
