Life has shifted forever as we know it or knew it. There are certain things in life that occur that are cyclical while few that are permanent and life altering. COVID-19 has demonstrated that “The World Is Flat”, the 2005 book by Thomas Friedman, who articulated the economic integration of life throughout the world and its inter dependency. Now, the integration has extended to a whole other level of meaning, health and survival.
The generation of living people today have few that were here when WWII occurred, however the analogy of the world back then compared to what we are undergoing now where the entire world was affected and changed from the event forever is similar.
As the world population has grown to such massive proportions (7.7 Billion), we are challenged with the on going task of feeding, curing, and employing more and more as we are testing the limits of health and capacity to maintain its semblance of normalcy.
Thoughts come to mind of meditation and existing in solitude while in a world where there are so many. Perhaps there is great inherent value in the scripts of Buddhism where the teachings have honored and respected all aspects of life including trees, bushes, and inanimate objects that all have a soul. Our departure from these fundamental values have culminated to a crescendo that is here on our doorstep now.
